DATE: Art Deco Revival, c.1980

An exceptional Art Deco Revival aquamarine solitaire ring with diamond accent shoulders, each set with sparkly baguette diamonds. It's crafted in 18k white gold throughout, and the main event, a 4.70ct aquamarine. The colour is gorgeous, a water like blue and is complemented perfectly by the diamonds and white gold band. It dates from the 1980s, at the peak of the Deco Revival movement. 

The 1980s brought us an iconic Art Deco revival unmatched by any attempt at it in prior years. Symmetry and linear uniformity made statement pieces and this ring does not disappoint. The culture of the 1980's was reminiscent of the 1920's in that luxury, leisure and technology were front and centre. It was during this decade that we saw the revival, especially in graphic design, jewellery and fashion. Nightclubs, cocktail bars and hotels (lobbies) were emerging as hot spots for the "hot, cool and young" people of the 1980's, and the lifestyle was reminiscent of the glamourous days of Deco.
